Paul Kalkbrenner has been an instrumental figure in the development of the techno scene. He recently announced details behind his forthcoming album release, aptly entitled 7. Due out (fittingly) on August 7th via Columbia Records and Sony International, the album's lead single, "Cloud Rider," could be a good indicator of what to expect from the groundbreaking German artist. And this week, the visuals have been unveiled as a part of a larger project entitled FLORIAN. Including the music video for Cloud Rider as well as "Mothertrucker" and "Feed Your Head," the videos are the debut music video project from one of NYC's leading international creative agencies, Droga5. Following the love of music between strangers, the project explores the way electronic music (or any music) can make an outsider feel welcomed. And though electronic music's birth was in the US, it's music like this that still remains somewhat unusual to the mainstream .
7 will help to officially commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall, with Kalkbrenner's musical vision helping to remind us how far the country has come since then.
