Irish indie band Silences brings us a very Coldplay moment today with their newest track, “The Sea.”
The song starts slowly, vocals strolling along like feet sinking into soft sand for a good 45 seconds. The splashy chorus enters, “If only for my confidence in all the things that don't make sense / I'll brave it all, I'll swim right through, the sea then you” and much like nature’s untamed oceanic beast, this song swells until we reach a crashing culmination; a whirlpool of percussion, vocals, and guitar.
Having shared the stage with Hozier and Laura Mvula, Silences is anything but what the band name suggests, and this big sound needs to be shared. So let’s get crackin, shall we?
