I had no idea what "G-house" was the first time I heard it at HARD Day of the Dead 2013. The French masterminds, Amine Edge & DANCE, were crushing a set I could only describe with contorted facial expressions and awkward arm movements that felt so natural at the time. I looked around flabbergasted helplessly scanning the crowd to see if anybody had similar sentiments. The soundtrack to that evening was Amine Edge's remix of Pirupa & Pigi's "Sweet Devil" and I'll never forget it. My life changed after their set, along with my affinity for heavy furtive low-end four-on-the-floor house music.
Today, the Los Angeles homie Dr. Fresch released a true original G-house tune. The project features verses from NYC's Thewz combined with West Coast top-end vibes. "Walk That Talk" is the type of tune that throws me back to the unforgettable hour-and-a-half on the lawn of Downtown Los Angeles, serenaded by the proper fusion of house and hip-hop.
