Santa Fe based indie electronic group The Maya Spectra has a sound uniquely their own that breaks conventional standards and soars above a slew of to-the-cuff tracks. Their latest release Music Box EP is an aural blend of industrial electronic music paired with jazz syncopations, trip-hop structures and soothing soulful vocal melodies. Following the music Box’s release the group is debuting a new single today “The Plight,” which is an electrical dreamlike soundscape rich with complex rhythms and delicate melodies. Utilizing frenetic percussion, rapid oscillating chord progressions and oriental sounding instrumentation the group creates a laid back sound that is something like a more soulful futuristic electronic sister band to El Paso based experimental rock band The Mars Volta. Lose yourself in the entrancing melodies that The Maya Spectra sop beautifully orchestrates.
