Conner Youngblood can sing, write, produce, and play more instruments than you can probably name. Youngblood remained quiet for the past year, but then Head of Sales, a mysterious production outfit from Lithuania, approached him to collaborate, and “Miss America” was born.
This happens to be Head of Sales’ first song, and what a fantastic introduction it is. Interestingly, Head of Sales explained the inspiration behind the beat/melody to be folk singer Nick Drake’s “The Road,” to which Youngblood then wrote lyrics and sang over.
The collaboration accomplished exactly what collaboration intends to do: to complement and enhance each other. Youngblood’s falsetto enters the spotlight within Head of Sales’ sparse, minimalistic production, yet the dreamy synths expand those hushed chants and render an embracive and comforting atmosphere.
We’re eager to hear more from the newcomer, and hope more collaborations are in store!
