And so, as it goes, we arrive, once again, to another Valentines Day. With each passing year, it seems as though this holiday, once a beacon for courtship and the promise of young love, has slowly but surely transformed into a shining symbol for the companion-less, doing just fine all on their own. Quite honestly, this transformation wouldn't be such a bad thing if it wasn't blanketed with bitterness and spite from failed reconciliations. Just take a moment to think about it; it's nothing new that hate is the new love, #happysinglesawarenessday has replaced "Happy Valentines Day!", and to get in your feelings over a female (or vice versa ladies) and put it on public display for the social networking world to see kind of makes you…well, a bitch. It shouldn't be that way, but sadly, it kind of is.
While it's become easier for us to voice our feelings, it's just as easy for us to mask them in today's public forum as well, which, let's be real, is what most do. So, it's nice to get a dose of reality every now and again, which is what up and coming R&B artist Ramsey does here with his single "Memories". Produced by D.Dilla, the RVA native touches on love lost, expressing not so much bitterness with a former better half, but disappointment in losing what could have been. Between D's moody production and Ramsey's lyricism, there is an essential human quality about the track that suggests its okay to be upset about these kind of things and voice it.
I always intend & strive to make music to grab the emotion’s of my listeners.
"Memories" marks the first single to be released from Ramsey's highly anticipated EP dropping later this year. Check back here for updates. Happy Valentines Day.
