A few months ago, we premiered "Reykjavik" by Shallou, a singer and producer from the often-overlooked city of New Orleans. Now he's back with "Doubt," a shimmering, energetic tune featuring Shallou's best vocal offering to date. Opening with a spritely melody that would make Odesza proud, he adds some fuzzy synths and lovelorn lyrics, resulting in a unique take on a popular style of beat music. He's clearly not in the Valentine's Day spirit, but "Doubt" is proof that unrequited love can be the best inspiration.
If you're in the New Orleans area, Shallou is set to make his live debut March 19 at Gasa Gasa, performing everything live, with a live drummer to boot. Tickets are available here. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for an EP coming sometime this year.
