Last December when in Dallas for the holiday I made my way into the neon ether at the annual New Years event Lights All Night. Of course conversations were ablaze with jubilation over DJ Mustard, Boys Noize and Skrillex “life changing” sets. However one name that seemed to be at the tip of everyone’s tongues and at the top of their sets for the first night was Santa Barbara based prodigal son Seven Lions. The rising star presented and electrifying array of progressive house, vibrant dance music and some heavier and darker bass tracks to appeal to everyone and have them salivating for more. His set at Lights All Night was merely just a result of his diligence and hard work to create club bangers to compete with heavy weights like Tiesto or Zedd.
In his latest release, “Lose Myself” featuring the powerful vocals of Lynn Gunn, he exhibits why he is the latest contender in the progressive house hall of fame. Swirling synths build with slapping bass lines and gripping vocal rifts that are captivating and maddening all at once. Seven Lions is on a hot trail for triumph and this release is just another searing log to the fire.
