San Fermin leap forward with “Jackrabbit”

San Fermin is exploding forward toward the release of their sophomore album with new single and title track "Jackrabbit," an ebullient slice of indie pop that serves as a proper sequel to their breathtaking first single "Sonsick." While San Fermin traditionally records with up to 22 musicians, the studio version of "Jackrabbit" was performed with the eight touring members of San Fermin, giving it the spunk and energy of the band's live show.

Charlene Kaye takes over on lead vocals for "Jackrabbit," providing a critique about people turning into their parents, which bears repeating, before soaring to heavenly heights as she repeatedly belts out, "Run for the hills, run for the hills, run!" The rest of the band goes full throttle on the chorus, with drums, brass, guitar and piano blaring to give an extra oomph to Kaye's already fantastic vocals. Ellis Ludwig-Leone, the composer behind the band, put it best in an interview with Billboard when he said the song "definitely sums up some themes I’ve been circling for a while now. It’s fight-or-flight plus a marching band, which is basically my stance on everything." We can't wait to hear what's next from these rockstars in-waiting. Jackrabbit the album is out on Downtown Records on April 21.
