When UK collective Murkage released their debut album Of Mystics & Misfits last April, I reviewed it as one of the most important records to have come from the city of Manchester in recent years. I even went as far to say that this particular album was one of the strongest releases the UK has seen in a long time. Nine months have passed since I first wrote that review, yet the fact still remains the same; the Murkage steam train is still rolling, crashing through European cities delivering their brand of rap with a raw punk mystique.
The Murkage boys have already dropped three dope visuals to accompany their tracks "La Plage", "Officer Parker" and "Manifesto", and today we've been blessed with the final visual from the group, as they wrap up their debut release with the emphatic "Can I Live". As with their previous videos, band member and one of the UK's most visionary directors Gaika Tavares steps behind the camera to give us another incredibly fresh looking film to accompany the track. We see the group donning their rock star glasses, sweatbands and shortest shorts, as a rather Elvis-looking OrelSan makes his way through fields and country lanes to get to the stage, with some truly breathtaking scenic shots along way.
You can watch the video for "Can I Live" in it's entirety below, whilst also being able to stream the entire Of Mystics & Misfits album over on the band's Soundcloud. If you're enjoying the visuals provided by Gaika, it's definitely worth heading over to his brand new website and checking out some of the other projects he's worked on including Applesap festival in Holland amongst many others!
