San Diego based dub duo Kicks n Licks, Andy Joplin and Jerrod Jordan, have been on our radar for awhile now and show no signs of stopping in the new year with their remix of "Runaway" by Galantis. To kick -no pun intended- off 2015 the pair are dropping four remixes in the month of January and we are pleased to premiere the second. I think the phrase "Go big or go home," applies after a year of sold out shows packed with raging fans. And it's easy to see why, as their tracks are on top of the current EDM trends and just make everyone want to dance, really.
Of the choice to remix Galantis Jordan said, "The vocals were so captivating that once we heard them we knew we needed to flip it."
Kicks n Licks picked the perfect vocals to remix with "Runaway," which were already sweeping across the shimmering soundscape before they chopped and didn't screw it into a dublicious gem. They've turned what was already a fist-pumping track into a hands waving in the air remix that gives me visions of sitting on a cute boy's shoulders at a sold out show. It's a remix to just escape to with someone who might be special or just intriguing in an electronic minute as the sun sets over a giant stadium.
