I'm rather surprised my fellow bloggers here at EARMILK haven't covered much of How to Dress Well, the eclectic Chicago native who's garnered quite the indie following. He's pretty frequent with releases, and this one lives up to his reputation as an experimental genius.
you and i are the same is a fifty-three minute mixtape filled with collaborations and soundscapes you'd never expect to hear in a Soundcloud set. He racks up collabs with FKA twigs, Default Genders (formerly Elite Gymnastics), Sia, Phillip Glass, Akron/Family, the Microphones, Majical Cloudz, and even Dej Loaf. If that's not an indie lineup to die for, then I have no hipster clue what is. Within the tape he even remixes Sia in expert fashion, which is rare amongst the countless amounts of producers who have attempted and failed.
Besides sharing this hour long project, How to Dress Well is also set for the Brooklyn music venue Glasslands, which has just over a month left before they close and they keep expanding their schedule of cool final shows. The newest addition is How to Dress Well on December 16 with a DJ set from Heems and a special guest. If you're in New York, don't miss that because I wouldn't if I was there.
