Fresh off a premiere with The Fader, the new collaborative track "Street Sweeper" by LA based artist JMSN and Freddie Gibbs is one smooth remix. The song is just one that will be featured on his 14-track self-titled LP JMSN (Blue Album) due out on White Room Records December 9th. Touted as an R&B tune on the level of the FutureSex/LoveSounds era Justin Timberlake, JMSN had this to say about the second single…
“Street Sweeper is about a person that I observe from an outside perspective; almost as if I don’t know the person, but in reality I do. I try to figure out what draws me to this person so much. I point out flaws and other things I see in them but still always come back to that fact that I love whatever it is they have.”
"Street Sweeper" tells the story of a lady named Tracy -in silk tongued rhymes of course- who would really be anyone. In this narrative she is the girl working long hours at the bar to support herself, flipping glasses and filling bottles for that temporary fix. The scars she hides leads her to dream of being a star and the finer things in life, but in reality Tracy would be willing to settle for a house and car of her own. As with any modern R&B number there is a rap breakdown that exposes the reality of her situation -the hit and quit it -interspersed in between the lovelorn vocals. We'll never know if Tracy improves her situation, but the fate of second single "Street Sweeper" and his upcoming LP is another matter entirely.
