The past year has seen a lot of success and growth for Montreal artist Love Mansuy. The R&B artist wooed us with his first handful of electronic-soul infused tracks including "San Lucas", "White Heaven", and "Meant It". Today he is back with his debut album Barely Legal, which has obviously been created with lots of love and soul. The eleven-track project delivers a calm and emotive vibe, spiced up with intriguing electronic productions from a handful of producers like Alex Smurfs, BLVD Blake, Boodabeats, Byron Hookman Green, CSharmin, Envoy, Sam Balsam, Hassan, Vxnylbeats, and X2AN Productions.
The self-released album is filled with Love Mansuy's vocals as he goes at each track without any guest features. As he showcases his vocal talents, it is hard to believe this guy hasn't been swooped up by anyone yet. But seeing as this project is fairly noteworthy for an unsigned 21 year old, he seems to be doing just fine on the solo track. Love Mansuy commented on the making of this album, "I figured that I'd move at my own pace. I actually plan to pick up the pace when the time feels right. But right now, I'm all about the music, nothing else. I am surrounded by great people."
You may notice familiar samples in tracks like "Change" or detect the transition in energy from tracks like "Murcielago" to the more chilled out track "Do You". Give the album a spin below and let us know what you think of Barely Legal.
