Rihanna is getting some serious competition lately, and no, it's not from another starlet, but rather musician and singer Mayer Hawthorne. His voice has only gotten stronger with age, and his singing style is aging like fine wine.
Recorded during the same time as his Lorde cover, Hawthorne absolutely nails it, bringing elements of jazz and R&B together and it's utterly stunning. His voice is beyond spectacular, and it's amazing to hear some fresh work by the Michigan artist.
He's been working as 1/2 of Jaded lately, and 2014 has been a massive year for him as he experiments with new styles and sounds. Check out the track below, it's a free download so it's a win-win scenario.
