Today's extra special delivery is brought you by Thom Yorke. There were only a few brief teasers in the past few days from Yorke about any type of new material that may or may not come to light. However, luck is on our side, as he recently released a solo album called Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. Yes, we are just as excited as you are. I myself have already listened through the album at least five times today. To be fair, there is nothing mindblowing about the album. It's just, well, Yorke doing his glorious thing and we can't fault him for that. Today, we showcase the closing song of the album "Nose Grows Some".
It's a track lush with textures, including a subtle lo-fi crackle in the background. A droning beat starts things off, with ambient effects echoing in and out of the fray. Then it hits us, something that we all have been waiting for. After about a minute in, Yorke's haunting yet calming vocals floats among the layers in the most ethereal way. We don't hear his infamous hair-raising falsetto in this particular tune. It's all about the low key mood and ambiance. An airy, yet heavy atmosphere forms when Yorke spills his words to us.
So sit back and let his work caress your ears.
