Production duo Odesza is on top of their game right now. After releasing the stellar In Return LP earlier this month, Odesza has returned to remixing, this time on a song by brother-sister Australian folk group Angus & Julia Stone. Angus & Julia's sound couldn't be more different than Odesza's, but somehow the producers make it work; they take the bittersweet emotions from the original song and amplify them with electronic sound.
Odesza strips the Rick Rubin-produced track of most of its vocals, leaving only the most heartbroken samples behind. Bass, atmospherics and harp strings dance around Angus & Julia's vocals as they sing about falling in love and the eventual, resulting heartbreak. The song starts mysteriously then simmers, making you feel the pain before it explodes with heartbroken emotion and Odesza's signature deluge of shimmering noise.
You can check out both acts on their respective fall U.S. tours, stopping in a city near you.
