Rome Fortune and ILOVEMAKONNEN muse about the women who might be "FriendsMaybe"

After dominating the game for so long, its incredible that Atlanta continues to bring forth newer and more exciting talent. This new wave of artists march to the beat of their own strangely sequenced drums, sing their songs proudly off key, and find ways to transform their quirky personalities into infectious personas, who revel in the imaginary shade thrown by their haters. Crawling out of the trap and club, which still influences their sound, emcees have been able to gain more breathing room to let their eccentric natures free; aptly describing how hip hop came to produce both Rome Fortune and ILOVEMAKONNEN.

Sporting a bright blue beard and a smile that would have Danny Brown jealous, Fortune's flow often betrays his wild existence; whereas the mannequin carrying Makonnen subliminally challenges everything about the status quo about music and the industry. When the two team up together, they form a formidable duo and "FriendsMaybe" is all the proof you need.

While Fortune comes out of his typically monotone shell, the combination of his smooth flow and Makonnen's wild singing is a great one. The latter takes on hook duty for majority of the track, wailing about a girl who wants him to be more than a friend, but doesn't trust him. Fortune comes through right after, shaking the entire song up with a burst of energy. He doesn't have time to discuss his girl's distrust, he is too busy getting top from her friend. It is a great track that teeters on the line of grimy and fun loving.

As an added bonus, Rome Fortune announced his upcoming Small VVorld EP is on its way. Hopefully we are in store for some more features from his friends in the A, especially those on the come up. He is definitely one of the more interesting figures coming out of the city and Makonnen is making a lot of noise as well, so you should definitely keep an eye out for both these artists.
