Tom Cascino, a.k.a. Broke For Free, is no stranger here at EARMILK. With his uplifting beat architecture and groovy guitar loops, it's hard not to like him and his work. They give us an optimistic feeling that we all undoubtedly love to feel. His latest album Petals exemplifies just that, a collection of songs to blast through the Summer. Today, we give you a first listen to his interpretation of "Skydive", originally composed by Astronauts.
"Skydive" is a gloomy song, with soft-spoken vocals and minimal percussion. With that said, Broke For Free's remix of this particular tune veers off the usual path. Instead of steering it into a more happy-go-lucky vibe, he rides the mellowed out undertone in his own way. He keeps basic foundation of the original mostly intact, while he creates a haunting aura with the vocal samples while an ambient atmosphere swirls around your head. Don't expect sunshine and smiles with this particular Broke For Free remix. Could this remix be signal for a change in Broke For Free? We'll just have to wait and see.
