Some of the best commentary comes with skeptical nature towards a new project. The feelings you witness range from one end of the universe to the other, as everyone seems to have their own opinion morphed out of pure, individual consciousness.
When "Hunger of the Pine" was first released, all of my fun-loving alt-J fanatics clenched their teeth in excitement, wandering aimlessly through the unfamiliar eeriness of the song. Then, the same fanatics shrugged their shoulders in stubborn disbelief as we were introduced to the psychedelic rock anthem, "Left Hand Free". The masses were outraged collectively stating with a unanimous voice, "THIS ISN'T alt-J!" I knew this was just emotional distress as everyone awaits the new project, This Is All Yours, available to pre-order on Double Vinyl here via Infectious Music.
Today we are handed another drop-off of the anxiously awaited album, mysteriously named "Every Other Freckle". I don't attempt to dive too deep into assessing the meaning of alt-J's mission, seeing that it only seems to exacerbate just how frustratingly beautiful their art is. "Every Other Freckle" should serve as a "hey, we're back" to any fan who has doubted the new release from the crew. Check out some of alt-J's forthcoming tour dates here, and don't forget to pre-order This Is All Yours today.
