When I say "pure funk" I mean "pure funk".
I just returned from the Palm Springs extravaganza Splash House, held within the walls of three hotels over the course of three days. It was an awesome adventure filled with meeting new people, old friends, and even meeting up with some other EARMILK-ers. The festival deals heavily with deep house artists, but there were more than a few times I heard Kaytranada get thrown in the mix. I was stoked.
Of course I'm excited he dropped a new single the day after my return! And guess what? This track is fire. Kay twists Tensnake's original "Feel Of Love" off of his new album Glow. It's not like any other remix, this track has officially been turned into what I believe to be the first real version of synthesized funk in the modern age. I know the cat's been emphasizing mad interest in hip-hop and funk music, but damn, this one is a whole other level.
Take a listen to Kay's new edit over on his Soundcloud, and make sure to check some of his dates for his first ever international tour, beginning September 14th in my hometown of San Diego.
