Los Angeles-based R&B singer Elijah Blake shared three new songs on his Soundcloud page today, a release titled Free Pt. 1. The third track, "Give Me U", features production from Purity Ring's sound wizard Corin Roddick, who's been laying low since the pop duo worked with Danny Brown on "25 Bucks" last year. It's cool to see him working with a lesser-known artist, especially one as promising as Elijah Blake.
Like anything Roddick produces, "Give Me U" is a monstrous tune, with the beat resting comfortably between radio pop and witch. Blake's soaring vocals leave a lasting impression as well, the ultra-catchy chorus in particular. The rest of Free Pt. 1 is worth a listen; head to Blake's Soundcloud to check it out. There's not much information about the release, but the title suggests more to come.
