Last week- actually exactly a week ago- I brought you a remix by a man who goes by the name of Nubbz. It was A Tribe Called Quest revival of "1nce Again" that led me to the Netherlands Soundcloud profile, where you can find tons of stellar hip hop remixes. I actually stated that Nubbz "sticks to solely the hip-hop I started with." This is entirely not true, as he contacted me after and introduced me to his deep house moniker 67th Hour.
It goes without saying the guy has talent, and his newest remix of Matt Corby's "Made of Stone" is extremely intuitive of his mellow nature. To go from hip-hop remixes to this, I think I may have found a new favorite. The versatility of any artist today is most important, especially when talent seems to be sprouting from every corner of the "interweb." Nonetheless, 67th Hour plans to keep these monikers separate from each other.
There's a line between hip-hop and house music. It's usually a very thick line, without really any crossover. However, I believe this kind of piano deep house serves any hip-hop head justice. You just need to have mellow inclinations.
