Lee Rous and Andy Gardner of Plump DJs have been touring heavily in Europe for the past year. Their sound, self-labeled “deep space disco” has an upbeat gritty FM modulated analogue edge that fits perfectly in the new wave of electro-inspired house music, has been featured on BBC Radio 1 and supported by A-Trak and Porter Robinson. But enough with the technicalities.
The video for their upcoming single “Roll Dope Rhymes”, set for release on August 4th, depicts a post-apocalyptic city occupied by a single hooded figure. As the ominous intro fuses into a rolling snare ride, we pan back to empty London streets. No hope, no destiny, yet the positivity of the upbeat rhythms suggests that all has not been lost. The hybrid tune, featuring hip-hop style vocals, funk melodies, and disco house percussion is sure to make waves at festivals and big room clubs.
Take a look below, and catch them on tour in the UK from July to October.
