North Carolina’s old skool hip hop revival continues with the dynamic duo of DJ YRS Jerzy and Chox-Mak. Last featured on EARMILK for the sinister sounds of “Mak Da Ripper”, which featured production from Pepsi C25, Chox-Mak and his 90's Flow are back with more British talent gracing the mixing desk. DR. G is the man behind the atmospheric beat of new single “Guiding Light”, while Plex Long gets involved with a solid hook. Mak’s signature bars of course set this slow burner on fire as he comes in with a vintage verse.
“With those simple hooks and basic diction crowds rockin’ steady, but my voice will make ‘em nod and remember what they’re forgetting. I know the 90's are gone, I put it in my song, but ‘long as I got this flow I feel like it’s living strong”
Billed as a track that will transport you back to a time when “music had substance to it”, the final product of “Guiding Light” goes some way to justifying those claims as it combines sufficiently deep production with artistic wordplay to give fans and critics alike more than enough to work with and bump to.
