The LA-based duo D.VELOPED, comprised of Steph Whittier and Davis Flory, have joined the growing yet still quite recent trend in dance music—chill tropical beats supported by windy hollow percussion. You may have heard the sound from Kygo, Poolside, and a litany of other beach house pool party influenced artists. To be honest, it's probably the future direction of daytime party playlists.
This bootleg remix of Next's "Too Close", influenced by their long-standing love of hip-hip and newfound infatuation with nu-disco, embodies notions of childhood nostalgia and prom nights past. The duo has replaced their previously sample-heavy remix template for self-constructed instrumentals and found sounds, a potentially recurring theme. You can expect more of this midtempo nu-disco feel in their future releases.

For LA residents, D.VELOPED will be curating a residency of their own in Echo Park, dubbed BAD D.CISIONS, in the coming weeks.
