Taking on the task of remixing a well received single is no easy task, but Virginia/DC based remix artist backstroke. seems to take them in stride. Already having taken a crack at Tegan and Sara, Goldroom and Young Summer in the recent past, backstoke.'s newest remix of Racing Glaciers' "First Light" is, as always, an easy going ride supported by glistening beats.
Filled with shuffling synths and a steady ground, backstroke.'s remix to "First Light" pulls elements here and there from the original, including the soothing trumpet melody and catchy vocal hooks, to make for a airy and steady stand-alone. Using his synth-based soundscape as the cohesive force throughout, backstroke. effortlessly maneuvers the remix in an interesting way, allowing instrumentals to branch out and shine before fading back in into the flow.
