There are some that argue that UK hip hop is "truer" to its roots than the place that gave birth to it; boring and as stale as two week unsealed Oreo's. On the other hand, the argument can be made that hip-hop is more progressive in Britain with the music it has influenced. After listening to Ikes, I think it's safe to say that he's unfazed by the debate. As Louis Armstrong once said,
There’s only two ways to sum up music; either it’s good or it’s bad
Ikes is in the business of making good music. He's a storyteller. He has something to say. With a steady cadence in his rap style he's able to master the art of the narrative, not saying to much over a beat, but just enough so that engulfs you as well.
