I get a lot of grime tracks sent to me, but in terms of UK rap, I mostly trust a couple friends and publicists to do me right for this genre. This time around, a buddy of mine across the pond asked me to check this out for a possible premiere, and this song was so full of energy I couldn't say no.
Starting off with a somewhat slow intro, XO MAN brings the serious vibes here, pumping up the energy as soon as his rap portion kicks in. It's incredibly UK-ish in style, from the way the track is styled, all the way down to the name of the song. The 6'10 rapper brings his serious a-game because the lyrics are fun and easy to understand, even while he slays everyone else with his kick-ass ferocity.
This is the sort of track anyone in the US who's interested in the world that blends hip hop and electronic music can love. Festivals beware, perhaps the UK rap scene might see its fair share of rappers than we've been used to.
The track will be out in July as part of his upcoming EP, Storm.
