Malik Ferraud has represented Maryland proudly with his new track which incorporates a sample from a familiar former resident of Baltimore and even shares the same title as a big hit from the rap legend. If you listen carefully you’ll solve my riddle and hear a smooth Tupac sample embedded in Ferraud’s latest LP cut “Changes”. As well as drawing from old school, iconic influences lyrically, “Changes” boasts a retro boom bap instrumental courtesy of frequent collaborator Black Diamond. This is the sixth joint from Ferraud’s currently unnamed upcoming LP and while the project is yet to have a release date, the impressive track continues the momentum he picked up with a high profile SXSW set that really got the hip hop world excited. “Changes” is an example of how rap can be positive and still go hard, with an open message of self and societal improvement that Ferraud clearly feels passionately about.
“I know what it’s like to lose hope when you can’t believe, it’s a shame that’s why I set my aim, to inspire anybody who can’t seem to explain the reason things happen this way, if only everyone could have a say, at least I know there’s changes that I need to make”
While Ferraud reflects and prepares to launch his anticipated LP, you can cleanse your hip hop pallet by embarking on some refreshing “Changes” below.
