With his debut "Beautiful Criminal" receiving critical accolades and regular radio airplay on BBC Introducing on Radio 1, Scottish R&B/soul-pop singer A-L-X looks to go bigger with his new single "Allure". The sultry follow-up track is easily the best we've heard from him yet with surefire potential to take the UK by storm. The production nods a bit heavily to Frank Ocean's infectious channel ORANGE record "Lost," but the seductive nature of the song distinguishes "Allure" from Frank's heavier subject matter. It's a track that finds the Scottish singer embodying the desire he sings of, backed by beautifully persistent strings and distant horns. His guitar solo at 1:52 is just a glorious taste of the young artist's style, something we hope he'll explore a bit further on his forthcoming project.
"Allure" coincides with his slot on Zane Lowe's "Next Hype" tonight, as well as A-L-X's Radio 1 Big Weekend debut in Glasgow this Saturday. If you've got a chance to go – do it. "Allure" is the kind of record you want to see live.
