With the Easter celebrations & 4/20 falling on the same weekend, the music gods kept on giving with a host of new tracks and releases dropping the past couple of days. Hot on the heels of the previous weekends festivities, we have the exclusive premiere and stream from one of London's hottest rising vocalists, Laura Wolfie.
The young UK native has already been making waves, with her debut single "Reflections" finding it's way onto a host of blogs towards the end of 2013. With 2014 well underway now, and summer drawing ever closer, Laura is gearing up to release her brand new EP 7DS. The title is short for '7 Deadly Sins', and each track name is taken from the latin for each of these sins. Laura describes her influences as everything from Jhene Aiko to A$AP Rocky, meaning that there are a host of different genres fused together to create her sound.
Indeed, opening track "Luxuria" showcases this perfectly, as her soulfully tinged vocals caress a bass-drenched beat, which leaves the listener open mouthed. The rest of the EP is a journey through the range of Wolfie's sound, with delicate melodies underpinned by deep hitting beats that straddle R&B and Hip Hop. If "Reflections" was the starter, then the 7DS EP is a more than meaty main course that delivers a breath of fresh air to a somewhat floundering alt R&B scene, especially in the UK.
