Mat Zo's first full-length album late last year was easily a personal favorite for a wide-ranging group of dance music fans. With lasting singles like "Pyramid Scheme", "Lucid Dreams", and "Easy" all keep Damage Control at the top of our playlists moving through 2014; it was a clear sign of the young Brit's creative expression as he evolves into a mature artist. After a world tour to support the album, Zo will complete an unlikely pairing with Kill The Noise on the aptly-titled Kill The Zo Tour, spanning 11 North American cities this Spring.
Earlier today, Mat took to social media to reflect on his approach to releases, along with a new track. Thinking logically on the merits of free downloads versus Beatport and iTunes, this one is sure to grow his extended fan base all the more. "Oldskool Trip" is exactly as its name suggests. It's a journey down memory lane for traditional house and disco fans, and could easily be mistaken for a 90s cut. With some added distortion and a walking bassline, it's reminiscent of Boys Noize's "Starwin", a modern take on classic disco that, while unexpected, is still a welcome listen.
