'This Is It', the techno-heavy EP from Craig Williams and Charles I

As always, the musical creations of synth wizard Craig Williams originate from his extensive analogue collection and ear for everything patched. For his latest EP off Discobelle Records, Craig teamed up with LA-based Charles I to create a three-track techno collaboration for the ages. With support from Erol Alkan, Mason, The Aston Shuffle, and AC Slater, This Is It is sure to make waves at upcoming festivals and warehouse parties.

If you've ever been to a 24-hour rave you know that the 5 to 8am mark is strictly reserved for the dedicated listeners, modern day speed freaks, and insomniacs. Styles like morning psy[trance] and groovy chugging techno were created and appropriately named for such time slots. Unofficially associated with this crowd, the EP's title track, "This Is It", is a perfect example of what you'd want to listen to as the night departs and the morning arrives. Not too heavy, yet strong enough to keep those feet moving.

A bit darker and relevant to the vocal sample, "Increase The Doses" fits best at around 3am when the warehouse is just starting to peak. With the appropriate sound system, you'll find the low end carries most of the weight. The cavernous reverb of the water droplet kicks strongly encourages the use of heavy psychedelics, nullifying all work D.A.R.E. and the War on Drugs have done. For a truly mind-altering experience, drop one before dropping "Increase The Doses".

Hilariously enough, "Work" speaks to the music industry in a way that many preach yet few practice. Like Dave Grohl so eloquently put it, success doesn't come from standing "in line for eight fucking hours with 800 people at a convention center." If you put in your time, success will come. In the mean time, let the techno brain food of Craig Williams and Charles I get your creativity flowing better more brainly in your head.
