Drake hops on his R&B wave for the PARTYNEXTDOOR-produced "Days In The East"

Drake has been the talk of the town recently. If we're being honest, when is he not? From his remix of Soulja Boy's "We Made It" to "Trophies" inauspiciously ending up on the Young Money compilation to the backlash from his comments on his pulled Rolling Stone cover to the actual comments of the feature to the backlash the comments themselves inspired (Hi Hov), Drake has garnered quite a lot of attention in the last few months. The release of "Draft Day" a few days ago kept the coals hot, but Drizzy seems to be interested in igniting a full blaze with the release of yet another track, "Days In The East." Nearly 600k plays in 15 hours seem to indicate he has.

"Days In The East," produced by OVO Sound signee, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and co-produced by OVO's crown architect, Noah "40" Shebib, finds Drake delving deep into R&B (again). The cut puts him directly in the middle of a conversation with a love interest (Rihanna, perhaps?), and he, in typical Drake fashion, makes may passive-aggressive statements about their relationship ("Why you keep asking me about…? / Couple of things that I'd rather do than talk about that right now / Told you 'bout giving him chances on chances on chances / He's not holding you down he's holding you back right now"). Regardless of what you think about his music, you can't deny he's a truly great songwriter. "Remember one night I went to Erykah Badu house / She made tea for me / We talked about love and what life could really be for me / She said when that shit is real you just know / And I was thinking about you, you already know." It's all so casual and conversational and evocative. Most importantly, it's excellent. Take a listen, if you haven't. (Check for the "Stay" sample, too.)

Stream Drake's "Days In The East" (via October's Very Own) below, and be on the lookout for more from the Toronto native, since he seems to be in a giving mood.
