Brothers Alessandra Baris and Joseph Desler Costa were separated at birth, but managed to reunite under their love of synth pop and create their debut album as Young Boy. With the brutal winter lingering in some parts, I imagine most people are eager for warm weather and the summer sun. The first track and leading single from the album, “Chasing Sun,” sort of captures that sort of melancholia as we’re looking toward the prospects.
Filled with shimmering and carefully playful with delicate melodies, lush instrumentation, and dreamy vocals, Young Boy’s sound lies somewhere between Love & Rockets, New Order, and The Postal Service. It creates the perfect source for an album full of longing “for youth lost, hours wasted, teenage dreams, and long past summers.” Look for Young Boy’s debut album Other Summers on April 8th via Saint Marie Records.
