Brought together in the form of their similar names, Yuksek (Pierre-Alexandre Busson) and Alex Metric have come together in 2014 to be The Alexanders. They are bringing their funk and disco a-game together, and the result is "Don't Miss," which features the talented Australian DJ/Producer Anna Lunoe on vocals.
With the beloved Annie Mac introducing the world to this seriously addicting beat, the song is an instant hit for anyone who gets a chance to hear this song. The reemergence of dance, disco, and funk, are strong this year, with Duck Sauce's debut album and Chromeo's 4th studio release on their way, not to mention Dam Funk and Snoop Dogg's recent collab as well. It seems Yuksek's label Partyfine is ready to be a piece of this world, and both him and Metric seem to be making a heavy mark already in the year.

EARMILK: Hey guys! Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us! First off, how did your collaboration begin?
Alex Metric: We had both been fans of each others music for a few years. I think I suggested to Pierre it would be cool to do something together, so when he was in London he came to my studio and we met in real life for the first time. Then I headed to Reims a couple of months later and we spent 2 days making "Dont Miss."
EM: How would you describe your sound?
AM: there is definitely a disco element to what we do, but its not strictly disco. House influences and an indie influence too I think. in our solo work our sounds are a melting pot of genres; The Alexanders is no different in that respect.

Theres many influences thrown into the mix. Someone called it "an electronic LCD Soundsystem" which I was pretty happy with.
EM: What changed for each of you (production-wise) when you work as a duo?
AM: After spending years working on my own in the studio, I love collaborating these days. The main thing for me that holds up a tracks creation is the self doubt over an idea. I feel a huge part of the creative process is getting through that initial stage of not knowing if something is good, believing in it, and driving the idea forward.
Working with Pierre, that hurdle is taken out somewhat. We both trust each others opinions. The track came together very quickly. There was not much thinking and procrastinating, we just got on with it.
EM: How did the collaboration with Anna Lunoe occur?
AM: this was a stroke of luck actually. Anna had done a vocal for another track of mine. I never finished it and the vocal was languishing on a hard drive. When Pierre [and I] were in the studio I was going through some samples and sounds on my laptop trying to find something that would fit. I found the Anna vocal and it was the same key as our track. i just took those two lines from what was a full song Anna had written and it fit perfectly; such a simple [and] effective hook.
EM: Who or what are your inspirations when you're making tracks together?
AM: We really didn't sit down and discuss or think about inspirations, the track just kind of made itself very quickly. I think a big part to this project is not thinking about it too much and just following our instincts.
EM: What can we expect from your shows?
AM: I dont know yet! As with working collaboratively in the studio I enjoy djing with someone a lot. There's someone to react against and enjoy the moment with. its going to be fun, that much i know.
EM: What can we expect from The Alexanders for the rest of 2014?
AM: We have another session in the studio in March, so hopefully that will produce another track. There is no grand plan to this project. It's just two like-minded producers making music for fun, and seeing what happens. [We're] both so busy as solo artists, its great to have a project that has no pressure or expectation on it…though now the reception has been so great to the first release, I guess there is a little more pressure!
