Coming almost immediately off the wave of his 2012 effort, Zulu Guru, crooner Jesse Boykins III teams up with electronic beat wizard Machinedrum to bring you this pulsating mesmerizing single from his forthcoming album Love Apparatus. It was only a matter of time before the Brooklynites crossed creative paths. Produced entirely in conjunction and set for release on April, 22nd, the album marks the second full-length commercial release since 2008's The Beauty Created.
Produced by friend and frequent collaborator, Melo-X, Zulu Guru was a foray into the singers most interesting sonic concepts, but all in all still felt like familiar territory. "Plain" gives us a glimpse into what sounds to be an interesting and natural shift of JBIII's gentle brand of soul from R&B to the dance floor.
