Our friends over at UMEK's tech house hub 1605 Records have seen a way to be optimistic about the impending permanent cold we've been seeing this winter. Ever familiar with the cloudy dark feeling of winter's seasonal affectiveness, the Eastern European imprint has set their knowledge on how to brighten up our day forth into the latest edition of their 'Platform' series, in Platform Vol. 17. Featuring their latest and greatest artists, this series is known for being a pumped up, extra groovy taste test of their latest and greatest favorite artists. Being a bit more uplifting than what we sometimes see from them, this selection features everything from the always disco-inspired Hazzaro to the UK's own underground tech duo Anti-Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N. But by far the most stand out selection on this EP is from a 1605 favorite (and one of our own as well), Groovebox. Seriously making a name for himself through his ear for hip hop last year with hits like "Brooklyn," and "Cause & Effect" with UMEK himself, his in your face track with Electronic Empire entitled "Puff, Puff, Pass" is an insanely upbeat, almost pure take on hip hop via the house music market. Check it out below and the rest of Platform Vol. 17, to make your apres ski a lot more cheerful.
