I am quite glad that at some point in my life I developed an irregular ear for music, especially on the electronic spectrum of music. Instead of aiming my sights at clubs who frequent big room anthems, I enjoy the dive bar spot that spurns out deep house tracks and relies more on the funk side.
Gracious enough to put his track up for download, young Southern California producer Rambo V has just released his edit of American singer songwriter Marlene Shaw's "California Soul". Rambo resurrects the stylings of Shaw while stringing in deep bass and a feel good dance feel over the track. His percussion arrangement is very impressive and the build up to the first drop is beyond funky. The tune progresses into a very delicate and bubbly edit, gradually involving more and more samples. Rambo's edit is perfect for any beach set, serving us California kids well.
In addition to Rambo's release of "California Soul," he has in turn dropped the first volume of the "Rambo V Mix," which you can listen in on and download here. I'm very excited to see Rambo evolve and I'm looking forward to any edits that come my way in the near future. Check out "California Soul" now and hit his Facebook for the downloads.
