The emergence of French artists made serious strides in 2013, and we’re not just talking about the traditional groove-based house that might be associated with the region. Producers like Gesaffelstein, DJ Snake, and Amine Edge & DANCE all had huge years, each continuing to develop their own unique sounds.
Moving into 2014, Paris-based Tchami seems to be part of the second coming of emerging French producers looking to land a signature brand of music. After a breakout two-track EP on Fool’s Gold and remixes for the likes of Oliver and AlunaGeorge last year, Tchami is back for a remix of fellow countryman Mercer on “Turn It Up”. While we still know little about the man, his music speaks for himself, with a funky, future-house driven beat to peel back the grinding synths of the original. Keep your eye on Tchami for one to watch out for in 2014.
