It was only a little under a year ago that breakout artists MS MR paid tribute to their New York homies LCD Soundsystem by performing fan fav “Dance Yrself Clean”. Devotees of both artists were astounded by the quality, many in agreement that MS MR’s cover rivaled the original. While we can’t comment on this due to pure stylistic differences, we are happy to report we once again find ourselves blessed with a similar occurrence, New Yorkers showing love to their fellow resident artists.

This time its MS MR’s track “Ash Tree Lane,” the fourth and final track from their debut EP, Candy Bar Creep Show, that’s getting a sprinkle of progressive house magic from dance duo Live City. While the original track is laden with heavy drum beats and haunting backing vocals, Live City stripped these away to make room for a hyper energy beat with happy piano riffs to take away the angst. Live City’s changes to the accompaniment take the track from a passionate cry to a big room anthem, while still letting MS MR’s vocalist, Lizzy Plapinger, shine as bright as the sun you’ve been yearning for these past few days.
