The WAYO, a new Canadian hip-hop/soul/jazz/R&B group, have just released the first reprise in a dedicated series that will see their musical influences actively adopted and portrayed.
Their rendition of Drake's "Girls Love Beyoncé" affirms the feminine sensitivity that the original attempts to produce. Charlotte Wilson, the band's frontwoman, channels Drake's comfort with R&B melodies with a similar ease. As a whole, the band channels the feel of a group dynamic with layers of instrumentality to the balance of raw and smooth textures conveyed in the original with deft, studio production.
