Being heavily involved in an underground music scene is of utmost importance for an artist who wants to release something authentic, and gather a loyal following en route to commercial success. NYC based singer and songwriter Ian Isiah released his debut album The Love Champion, in mid-November to a good reception. Produced by Sinjin Hawke, second track “Private Party” is a slow jam R&B delight, and nearly indistinguishable from what we’re hearing in the current mainstream hip-hop world. Associated with the avant-garde NYC label UNO, Isiah has been collaborating with some of the heavyweight members of the underground dance/hip-hop scene recently, and featured guest rappers Mykki, Blanco, and Le1f on his debut album. Described sometimes as “the left field singer guy,” Isiah has certainly proved his worth on his debut, of which “Private Party” is an intricate part.
