Any time Jamie xx drops something new it is time to bust out the headphones, sit back and allow his latest venture to surround you. This, in most part, has to do with the fact that the experimental electronic producer continually releases jarring soundscapes, not to mention that his involvement in The xx makes for a truly unique take at an otherwise heavily explored genre.
Jamie Smith's newest untitled and unreleased song is a cut off of his Live at Night + Day Berlin mix which was presented by RBMA Radio (listen here). As the track begins a synthetic harp acts as a middle ground to which layered elements are introduced along the way. Progressing vocal samples are then added to the sequence that are made up of indistinguishable murmurs except for the use of the words "Come on" to introduce a climax in the song.

If listeners are unfamiliar with Jamie xx's work it is valuable to note that he released a full-length collaboration with Gil-Scott Heron entitled We're Here Now in 2011 and he has a wide range of remixes available on his official website. Also, Jamie should have more original music in store for us soon with a third The xx album in the works on top of at least one solo track with Four Tet that should see the light of day sooner than later.
