Chicago native Deathface, a.k.a. Johnny Love, could be described as a party professional, with a rave history reaching back into the early 2000s. With his recent EPs From Beneath and Fall of Man released via Brooklyn's Trouble & Bass crew, he's now put together a behemoth of a 19-track album titled Cry for Black Dawn, for which he is currently seeking a label.
The LP features a roster of impressive collaborators that doesn't surprise us coming from Deathface: guests include Pictureplane, Lil Internet, HEARTSREVOLUTION, Megan Thomas, and more. For the title track, "Cry For Black Dawn (Death's Wail)", premiering on EARMILK, Deathface enlisted the help of LIL DEATH co-founder and resident, touring DJ, and Gotta Dance Dirty writer Tamara Sky, whose spooky murmurs over EBM-inspired, melancholy production remind us a bit of Crystal Castles.
