ScHoolboy Q – "Banger (MOSHPIT)"

ScHoolboy Q must get really tired of being underappreciated. He is an integral part of the TDE infrastructure, but at times it doesn't feel that way. While he isn't necessarily the red-headed stepchild of the clique (that'd be Jay Rock), his role isn't particularly defined, either. Kendrick is the clearcut frontman, Soulo the secret weapon, so what does that leave ScHoolboy? The mind-mannered sidekick? The glorified hype man (think Jim Jones circa 2003)? He isn't quite cut out for that. As Kendrick continues to rise, it's going to become more and more crucial for the rest of his crew to know where they stand. Not to fear though, there's a good chance Schoolboy is figuring out his place now.

It feels like we've been waiting for Q's major label debut, Oxymoron, for eons. The project has been heralded as a true hip-hop gem, but it still has yet to receive a concrete release date. Today, we get one step closer to hearing the final product (hopefully) with the release of a brand new cut from the album entitled "Banger (MOSHPIT)". The song is produced by tHe renegades, and it finds Q filling what may end up being the perfect role for him—hitmaker. This may be the most appropriately titled song of the year. It's super sub-woofer friendly. Schoolboy flows like a hungry MC, and it's refreshing to see that competitive fire burning in him.

Stream Schoolboy Q's "Banger (MOSHPIT)" below, and be on the lookout for his Interscope debut, Oxymoron, hopefully due out very soon. EAT!
