I've hit a bit of a lull with a lot of rap submissions lately, so hearing about this one from the formerly spelled J2K has made my day a little bit better. He's made his mark by being a part of Roll Deep, a grime collective that has had multiple number 1's in the UK, as well as other hits in the top 20's.
He's had a few mixtapes of his own, but now JIIK has come forth with a new song, "Fresh," which signals a shift in style and maturity for the artist. Without having to resort to leaning on the production, the young rapper brings heavy lyrics that only highlight how brilliant he truly is. It's one of the best rap songs to come out within the last week, and frankly, I'm not sure why more of the US isn't paying attention to the world of grime in the UK.
The young rapper will be releasing his solo EP "LL Cool J EP" on September 15th.
