At a young 22 years old, Axel Kacoutié is already making plenty of news in the music world. The French-based producer has been featured on BBC Radio 1 and 1 Extra, and recently worked with one of the biggest rising acts of 2013, MNEK, to redo Disclosure and AlunaGeorge's " White Noise."
His newest release is "Favourite Stranger," with LA based Taylr Renee on vocals. The track continuously builds throughout the entire song- there is no drop, no moment of release- it just keeps building until the very end. This feels strangely appropriate, as the lustful lyrics only talk of her intentions and never the final act; it ultimately hinges on the listener to decide where "Favourite Stranger" takes them. Elements of the 2000's electronic styles are evident, yet this song strangely reminded me of Gesaffelstein's "Conspiracy Origins," not in its sounds, but in the way the song involves the audience to craft an ending for themselves. The whole track begins and ends as a tease, and that is the ultimate brilliance of the whole thing.
Axel Kacoutié is one to watch for, masterfully controlling the emotions of the people listening to this song. With Renee in tow, the two have created a fan out of me with this amazing song.
