We have now had some time to digest Fiona Apple’s dynamic fourth studio album, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, and it feels like an appropriate time to revisit it. Fiona herself must know this, as she has just let loose some simple, but striking visuals for one of the album’s less publicized cuts, “Hot Knife.”

Directed by Apple’s ex-boyfriend, Paul Thomas Anderson,the video features Fiona and several other women in close-up shots mouthing the round-robin style lyrics. As the song’s layers grow increasingly thick, more women appear to represent them before Fiona herself brings it home. Check out the video below and purchase The Idler Wheel… here.
